Dr. Welsh is a native of Northern California growing up in Menlo Park on the Peninsula and has lived here his entire life. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley in 1988 and then received his M.D in 1993 from the Dartmouth-Brown Program in Medicine. Moving back home , he completed his Internship and then Residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry) at Stanford University Medical Center in 1997 including being Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Welsh then stayed at Stanford for an additional year finishing a one year non-operative spinal pain management Fellowship in 1998 that was focused on adding to his skill set of spinal intervention procedures for complex pain management cases. A father of three, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys taking his kids to Cal football and basketball games as well as any 49er game he can find tickets! He also enjoys mountain biking and long hikes into the foothills on the Peninsula with his wife and dog (Lola).
